The celebrated Royal Marines Association Concert Band will play for the first time in Bath Abbey on Saturday April 30.
Based in Portsmouth the band comprises of former Royal Marines musicians who have performed around the UK to packed audiences. Musical Director is Anthony Smallwood who had a distinguished career with a number of Royal Marines bands including a spell as Director of Music of the Scotland Royal Marines Band, taking them abroad on many occasions and regularly appearing at the Edinburgh Tattoo.
Major Smallwood said;
“We are looking forward to playing in the wonderful setting of Bath Abbey. The programme will include many familiar Band favourites and I am delighted that Grenville will be joining us with his magnificent choirs.”
The Bath Abbey concert will be supporting the The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund and sharing the programme will be two of Bath’s leading choirs, led by music-man Grenville Jones.
Bath’s celebrated Last Choir Standing Bath Male Choir and the 80 voices of THE Bath Chorus will guarantee a very special evening of rousing melodies and beautiful harmonies. The conclusion of the concert will see both choirs plus the concert band in a medley of stirring Proms favourites.
